The Wilds of New England
Modernizing girls’ cabins
Our original girls’ cabins were built in 1933! While we’ve given them a lot of TLC since The Wilds of New England started in 2008, we believe that modernizing each one by adding a bathroom will significantly improve the camp experience for our female campers and counselors. This project will also pave the way for added camper capacity in the future.

Caring for our campers
During the peak weeks of summer, the strain on our girls’ bathhouse can be significant, with crowded sinks and long wait times for showers. Modernizing each of our girls’ cabins will take some time, but adding a bathroom to each cabin will greatly improve the camp experience for our female campers and counselors.
We believe that teens who want to experience the life-changing camp program at The Wilds of New England should be able to do so without barriers. These camp improvements move us closer to that goal.

Next steps
With schools in New England continuing to push their calendars later into June, the need to increase camp capacity during the peak weeks of summer grows ever more urgent.
Our original cabins were built with a wide variety of designs, so each bathroom addition will also be unique. Some cabins will be enlarged to accommodate a bathroom, while others will use the existing floor plan, but each will include at least one toilet, one shower, and a common space with a sink and mirror. Even better, the renovated cabins will provide added flexibility and capacity for our fall camps.
Modernizing our girls’ cabins triggers the need for an expansion of our septic system—an infrastructure project that paves the way for additional campers in the future. This expansion will require significant underground work, but should also meet state requirements for all of our future building projects as well.
Thank you for helping us improve the camper experience for hundreds of young ladies who attend The Wilds of New England each summer—and for many years to come!
