I always get excited when our staff begins the process of putting up our lights, wreaths, and extravagant Christmas tree. Did you know that the Christmas tree is real and it always touches the ceiling of the Fireplace Room? It does! Every year we have a Tree Trim with our staff where we eat chili and ice cream, fellowship as a family, and decorate the Fireplace Room. Kids get to make crafts, the Moose gets a face lift, and the tree is lit. What a time to be on the campsite!
One of my favorite traditions at The Wilds is our Staff Christmas Banquet. Not only do we get to eat (if you thought camp food was good, we take it up one more notch), but we get to sing together, laugh together, exchange gifts, and reflect on what Christmas is all about.
I hope this Christmas season is as full of cheer for you as it has been for us. May reflection on Christ’s birth remind us that “His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
